A Paradigm Shift in Imaging Information

Sponsored by Philips MR

July 27, 2026 · News Release

The Philips MR Imaging app puts real clinical cases, DICOM data, and the MRI purchasing decision into a mobile application—and it opens with a 1.5T for $1.5 million.

Have you ever wanted instant access in the palm of your hand to real clinical cases, innovative MR technologies, and quality customer support to guide you in finding the right MR solution?

The Philips MR Imaging App enables radiology professionals to explore real clinical cases, interact with DICOM datasets, and evaluate Philips’ comprehensive portfolio of MR systems, coils, and software solutions, providing resources to support clinical and purchasing decisions based on users’ specific needs.

A New Approach to MRI Decision-Making

Historically, clinical evidence, technical specifications and commercial decisions for MR systems were siloed, each gated by different processes and timelines. By bringing evidence, data and a path to decision making into one mobile experience, the Philips MR Imaging app helps remove any barriers, putting the imaging professional in control of the process.

"The best decisions are made when the right information is available at the right moment—and we know every moment counts for imaging teams. By putting clinical evidence, practical learning, and purchasing pathways into clinicians' hands, we're helping imaging teams evaluate and adopt new technologies with greater confidence—ultimately improving patient care," shared Atul Gupta, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Image Guided Therapy and Precision Diagnosis at Philips.

In a field where capacity pressures and rising imaging volumes are forcing departments to make smarter capital decisions faster, that immediacy is not a gimmick; it is a competitive advantage for the department that uses it.

Built Around the Imaging Team

Within the app, radiologists can review clinical evidence and image quality to evaluate how Philips' technology renders real anatomy. Technologists and applications specialists can use it as a practical workflow and as an educational resource. Radiology administrators and imaging directors can leverage it as a capital-planning tool that helps them understand their installed base and upgrade paths, while also allowing them to initiate the quote without waiting for the next scheduled meeting.

Clinical Resources on Demand

When users download the app, they get immediate access to resources designed to help them evaluate MRI innovations at their own pace and within their area of interest.

An interactive body map, the app’s entry point, allows users to navigate clinical cases by anatomy and system configuration. Each case pairs real MRI images with downloadable ExamCards, enabling technologists to see not only the imaging results but also the protocols used to produce them.

Ioannis Panagiotelis, Global MR Lead for Philips, shared his enthusiasm for connecting with professionals in the field, explaining, "the next frontier of innovation isn't the scanner alone, but rather the customer experience around it. By bringing clinical evidence, education and purchasing pathways together in one app for the first time, we're making it easier for customers to adopt innovation faster and, ultimately, expand access to care."

To extend the educational experience, users can employ the integrated DICOM viewer to scroll through complete imaging datasets and review individual slices. Using a comparison slider, they can directly compare 2 clinical images to analyze the trade-offs between image quality and scan speed, rather than relying solely on technical specifications.

When Evaluation Leads to Action

The app streamlines the entire purchasing timeline for clinical and administrative teams burdened by lengthy procurement processes. When creating an account, users can register their installed MRI systems by serial number and receive upgrade recommendations. With one click, an in-app request is generated with the recommendation routed directly to the Philips representative to begin a real conversation and receive a formal proposal that is emailed within 24 hours.
